 Summary
The infamous seducer of women, Casanova, finds himself in a precarious position on the eve of Carnivale: he must marry, or be expelled from his beloved city.
Venice, seen by the Vatican as a hotbed of loose morals and heresy has fallen under particular scrutiny, thanks in large part to the exploits of Casanova.
Told he must marry or else, Casanova begins to scour the city for a virtuous woman. Finding her leads him to a woman who challenges everything in him, quickly forcing the realization that he's made a terrible mistake in committing to the virtuous Miss Donato.
What ensues is a grand scheme to win the hand of the woman he loves, all the while avoiding the Pope's special emissary, Bishop Pucci, who has descended upon Venice to rid it of Casanova and a heretic.
Everything comes crashing down amid Carnivale, and Casanova must make a decision that changes the course of not only his life, but of everyone around him as well.

 Memorable Quotes
Andrea: The whole counsel! It's just appalling. Do you think those men liked hearing they're no good in bed?
Andrea: Francesca, arrogance in a woman is not attractive.
Andrea: Giovanni, come away from the window. Our neighbors will think you're a gargoyle.
Andrea: Francesca, this is a very important week, as you well know. You have responsibilities.
Giovanni: Yes. In a few days, thanks to you, I won't be poor anymore (laughs).
Andrea: No. Thanks to your father who had the foresight to betroth you to his rich cousin's eldest son in Genoa.
Francesca: (reading the newspaper) God. Can't they get anything right?
Andrea: Be thankful they can't. I told you I would not permit another such scandalous display at the university. There's too much at stake.
Francesca: Mother, I don't want to marry him! Please! I'll be damned if I do!
Andrea: Well, if you won't I will!
Giovanni: (laughs)
Andrea: Oh, that's funny is it? Well, I'm damned to be widowed and gathering dust!
Andrea: Francesca! He's arriving tomorrow! You're fiancé!
Andrea: Marriage is a safe haven, my darling.
Francesca: And love?
Andrea: Love... love is something else. It's the weather being good everyday, because wind and rain are just another kind of good weather. That's love.
Casanova: (as Paprizzio) They looked at me and all they saw was a mountain of lard.
Andrea: No! No, no. Not at all. If anything, you need fattening up. I don't like thin men. Francesca's father was enormous!
Andrea: (slightly breathless) Senor Paprizzio? From Genoa?
Paprizzio: (gulps) Is your name...
Andrea: Bruni.
Paprizzio: Oh...
Andrea: I'm your... I'm your future...
Paprizzio: Oh! I never dreamt you'd be so beautiful!
Andrea: Me! (shakes head and swoons)
Paprizzio: Oh dear. Oh dear.
Andrea: No! No. I'm your future mother-in-law!
Paprizzio: My mother-in-law?!
Andrea: Yes...
Paprizzio: I'm not betrothed to you?
Andrea: No... to my daughter.
Paprizzio: (disappointed) Oh... umm.
Andrea: Some people find her beautiful. There's a man who's after her.
Paprizzio: (perking up) Oh! Does she like him?
(watching Casanova and Francesca in the hot air balloon)
Andrea: Is that Francesca? It is her!
Paprizzio: Oh. That's Francesca.
Andrea: I've never seen her look so happy.
Paprizzio: (feigning disappointment) Oh... really.
Andrea: (sly look to him) Such bad news for you, Senor Paprizzio.
Paprizzio: (sly look to her) Oh calamity. She's thrown me over.
Andrea: (amused) Disgraceful!
Paprizzio: Oh well... a scandal.
Andrea: You're a free man.
Paprizzio: Oh dear. What will I do? (looks at her and takes her hand)
Andrea: This is the last time I'm traveling coach.
Andrea: Vittorio, do something useful.
(in wind and rain at Paprizzio's side)
Andrea: Lovely. Just my kind of good weather!
