 Summary
Mr. Jones finds himself in a mental institution after thinking that he can fly on the day he impulsively takes on a job as a construction worker.
There he meets Dr. Bowen and both their lives are turned upside down as something more than a doctor-patient relationship evolves between them.
He is very impulsive, irresponsible and fascinating. She is intelligent, down to earth and highly respected for her profession.
While she is risking her career for him, he is risking his freedom, ecstasy and creativity for her.
Dr. Elizabeth 'Libbie' Bowen - Lena Olin
Dr. Bowen is the devoted psychiatrist who should know better than to get involved with one of her patients.
She struggles between what her heart is telling her and what she knows is the right thing to do, for both herself and the institution.
When everything gets out of hand she confides in one of her colleagues, Dr. Patrick Shaye, who gives her an ultimatum - either she stops seeing Jones or he will turn her in.
When threatened to lose her job she decides to try to forget about the man that swept her off her feet, but can't.
